Morning sight seeing of the ancient city of
Polonnaruwa the islands medieval capital (11e and 12e) Rose to
fame after the decline of Anuradapura the City in its day was
fortified with three conenentri walls beneath
the parks and gardens and satisfied by many shrines. Polonnaruwa
shows the interesting blend of the influence
of the south indian Hindu culture on the Sinhala Buddhist art and
architecture in the scattered shrines and
monuments still venerated daily by devotees.
After lunch leave for Sigiriya and enrote Elephant ride in Habarana,
dinner and night at Sigiriya |
